Dispatch From The Marianas Trench

Only two Leap Day babies have been All-Stars: Pepper Martin and Al Rosen, four times apiece. There was also Steve Mingori, who had a nice sinker and saved Game 4 of the 1976 American League Championship Series. Which only set up Game 5, which made me cry. Still.

Rosen was a legitimately great player, more talented than half the third basemen in the Hall of Fame. But he got a late start to his career and an early end, because of various injuries. Big League Stew's Alex Remington has a nice retrospective.
