According to T.R. Sullivan, Rangers reliever Koji Uehara exercised his right to block an off-season trade to Toronto. Why?
"The weather is an issue," Uehara said. "I also know how hard it is to compete in that division."
Yes, but the weather's no worse in Toronto than in many other major-league cities. Plus, the Jays play indoors. All of which Uehara presumably knows, since he's made road trips to Toronto. As for competing in that division, Uehara supposedly is amenable to a trade to his old team in Baltimore. Same division.
