Chris Davis Injury: Orioles Slugger Has Shoulder Tear

Aug 16, 2011 - When the Baltimore Orioles traded Koji Uehara to the Texas Rangers, they got back Tommy Hunter and Chris Davis. Hunter looked like immediate potential help in the rotation, and Davis looked like immediate potential help in the lineup. However, before long, Davis developed some shoulder pain that kept him out of action, and now Jeff Zrebiec has a relevant update:

Chris davis has a small tear in right shoulder. He'll see dr. Yocum on thursday. Likely done for season.

The good news for the Orioles is that, even though there's a tear, it's small, and repairing it shouldn't be a big deal. The bad news is that there's a tear at all, which means they probably won't get to see more of Davis between now and the end of the season.

Davis batted 41 times for the Orioles, with a homer, a walk, and 14 strikeouts. The Orioles were hoping to see if he could translate his impressive numbers in triple-A to the bigs, but now it seems they'll have to be patient.
