David Wright Injury Will Keep Mets Third Baseman Away From Baseball For At Least Another Three Weeks

The road to recovery appears to be a long one for New York Mets third baseman David Wright after a stress fracture in his back landed him on the disabled list on May 17. Initial reports suggested Wright would rest for a week and a half before resuming baseball activities, and as we pass that milestone, the Mets' third baseman appears to be no closer to a return than he was when placed on the DL.

On Friday, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson followed up by announcing Wright would take "at least another three weeks" away from baseball to rest the stress fracture before attempting to resume baseball activities. X-Rays showed Wright's injured back still hasn't progressed far enough to get back to baseball, and three weeks may be on the low-end of the scale when projecting a return.

In the meantime, Justin Turner will continue to hold down the fort in Wright's absence. Turner is hitting .314 with a .357 OBP percentage on the year while working at third in place of Wright.
