Senor Sickels...

big fan been reading your work for almost a decade now…been a member on minorleagueball since Day 1…why I’m saying all this I don’t know…but just how good a 3B prospect is Austin Maddox?

maddox

Well scouts seem to love him…but let’s how it looks in 10 months. He is expected to rank highly in the 2012 draft, likely first rounder.

I don't see it

He’s a RH first baseman whose bat wasn’t all that great this year. I think I might like him more on the mound.

+1

His D at 3B was not even acceptable for the college ranks. I think most teams will want him as a pitcher, but with 1 caveat. Let’s not forget that Maddox came to Florida as a catcher, but got moved off there by the super-prospect Mike Zunino. I could see some team still wanting Maddox to be a catcher.

Would be interesting

His only real asset as a prep catcher was his huge arm strength, and he’d be a major project if a team wanted him to catch.

Great player, but don't judge him on CWS

He’s just coming back from an injury, didn’t play in Regionals or Super Regionals

Stilson...

What’re the chances he ends up better than Grant Johnson, another college guy who would have gone higher and had more success if he didn’t tear his labrum?

medical

Medical question…can’t really answer that. :) I will say that when I saw Stilson in March, I thought his delivery looked rather stressful

RE: Preston Tucker

I can’t believe that he feel so far and was actually drafted after Josh Adams. I didn’t hear any rumors predraft, but was he asking for too much in bonus demands?

One more thing, while 1B will be his best positon in the pros, LF is still an option for Tucker. I’ve seen him play RF a bunch of times in the last 2 years and his D has been good enough there for me to project that he could play close to average D in LF for a major league team. Certainly he plays better D than several guys that are starting in LF right now. As long as Tucker’s bat is producing, LF will be an option for him going forward.
