It may only be mid-May, but there are already games that impact first place in several divisions. All times Eastern.
10:30 a.m., MLB Network: Minor league baseball, Toledo Mud Hens at Gwinnett Braves. This Triple-A matchup pits the Braves' top farm team, which plays in the shadow of the major league franchise in suburban Atlanta, against Detroit Tigers minor leaguers. Just what is a "Mud Hen", anyway?
6:30 p.m., YES Network, Sun Sports: Yankees at Rays. After the season's first week, when the Rays were 0-6, who would have guessed they'd go on a 23-11 run and lead the AL East by two games? A.J. Burnett takes the mound for the Yankees against Tampa Bay's David Price.
7 p.m., ESPN: Phillies at Cardinals. The Cardinals got swept out of first place by the Reds over the weekend. The Phillies remain in front in the NL East by two games. Cliff Lee will face Jake Westbrook tonight.
10 p.m., KCOP, CSN California: Angels at Athletics. The surprising Angels lead the AL West by half a game over the Rangers. Part of that is due to tonight's starter Joel Pineiro, who has a 1.33 ERA. He'll face the A's Brett Anderson.
